ABOUT ME

I have been a yoga instructor since 2008 and have over 30 years of experience as a clinical social worker.

When I completed my first yoga teacher training, something clicked—I felt a deep connection between the wisdom of traditional yoga and my social work practice. Yoga wove together so many of the values that guide my social work practice: self-determination, emotional connection, spirituality, and a person-centered approach. What yoga added was the embodied experience of healing.

My recent studies in Somatic Practice, (which explores the relationship between the mind, body, and nervous system), has deepened this integration. Using breathwork, body awareness, sound vibration, and gentle movement, we can release long-held tension, support the nervous system, and reconnect with the body’s innate capacity to heal. Somatic work has been especially powerful in easing chronic pain and helping to unwind trauma and stress held in the body.

Since beginning my yoga teaching journey, I’ve had the joy of working with people of all abilities, including those recovering from cancer, heart disease, and other health challenges. I love seeing how each person connects with the practice in their own unique way and witnessing the transformations that unfold.

Off the mat, I am often outdoors-cycling, hiking, gardening, skiing or enjoying time with family and friends.

On the mat, as in life, we each arrive with our own stories. Through steady practice and quiet attention, we can cultivate a deep sense of healing, balance, and equanimity.
